About the Role
Swiss Himmel GmbH is seeking an IT Business Data Analyst with deep expertise in enterprise banking systems, Swiss-specific interface design & integration, and data management modernization in Basel, Switzerland. This role focuses on impact assessments for application re-wiring, resolving data-related issues, extracting and analyzing data to support business decisions, identifying problems with stakeholders, managing legacy system migration to a data lake, and regular stakeholder engagement
This is a rare opportunity for professionals with combined expertise in core banking and wealth management products, migration projects involving big data on cloud, automation, and working experience with both distributed on-prem Data Lakes and RDBMS.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate business needs into data models and evaluate existing data models and physical databases for variances.
- Partner with IT and business stakeholders on data quality and system enhancements.
- Test newly sourced data sets against schemas and business requirements.
- Work with data visualization tools like Tableau and Power BI.
- Apply strong functional knowledge of financial instruments such as Equities, Bonds, Loans, and Derivatives products.
- Analyze data for complex systems, Data Modeling, Data Dictionary, Data Governance, Data lineage across systems, Data mining, Data Integration, and enable solutions that migrate data to Cloud.
- Perform qualitative data analysis, assist in the mapping specification for Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) process from heterogeneous datastores, and building data pipelines to sink Big Data platform and Data Warehouse/Data Lake.
- Foster solid partnerships with the business users by acting as a point-of-contact in capturing the requirements, managing the stakeholder expectations, and mitigating any project-related risks.
- Lead and manage legacy-to-modern data migrations, lifecycle projects, and cutover activities.
- Mentor and manage onshore/offshore teams, ensuring alignment with business goals and IT strategy.
Required Skills & Experience
- Data Analytics, Data Warehousing, Data Modelling, MIS/BI, Requirements Gathering and Business analysis in financial domain
- Functional Expertise: Banking and Financial services covering Capital Markets, Retail & Corporate Banking (Lending, Liability products, Payments, Corporate Loans, Collateral Lending, Payments & SWIFT, Portfolio, Credit Card systems
- Core Banking Products: Good knowledge of products like Temenos, Midas Plus, Equation, Finacle or similar suite of applications
- Technical Skills: PL/SQL, Python, Unix/Linus, HP ALM, MS Project, MS Office, Microservices, REST/SOAP APIs
- Migration & Lifecycle Expertise: Extensive experience in legacy-to-modern data migrations, cutover projects, and lifecycle management
- Business Requirement Analysis & Project Management: Agile/Scrum, Jira, ServiceNow, ITIL processes (incident, problem, change management)
- Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining software solutions, Cloud-based and SaaS solutions.
- Good understanding of Relational databases (Oracle/Sybase), ETL tool – Informatica and BI tool Tableau, Power BI
- Experience working on reference & transaction data for large banking landscape covering multiple source systems and consumers.
- Solid knowledge of financial data classification/sensitivity and data modeling standards/tools.
- Proven business-focused mindset, delivering value through automation, process improvements, and operational excellence.
